Real estate appraisers are responsible for estimating the value of property for buyers, sellers, and local governments. Most real estate assessors will specialize in a particular type of property whether it be residential, commercial, or rural.
Estate appraisers will specialize in a particular area which they are familiar with, taking into account the characteristics of the property such as the condition of the roof and any renovations that must occur. After taking all features of the house into account, a real estate assessor will then place a fair value of the property and provide this information to their clients or local government.
The difference between the two professions is that appraisers usually have private clients who wish to revalue residential properties, while real estate assessors will usually work for local governments assessing property tax values.
Most of the workday of a real estate assessor is spent online researching a community, and most appraisers will work 40 hours a week, sometimes having to travel in order to visit properties. Read the rest of this entry »
